Know the Words to "'Twas the Night Before Christmas"?

The Westborough Community Chorus' annual holiday show starts Friday night.

If you know the words to "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," consider singing along with the Westborough Community Chorus on Friday night.

A musical version of that holiday classic is part of "Holiday Joy," the chorus' annual holiday show, member Gary Wittmann says.

The show is at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Gibbons Middle School. Tickets are $12 for adults, and $9 for seniors and children. The proceeds will go toward scholarships for middle and high school students for music lessons.

"Rather than the traditional concert format of standing and singing from sheet music, we have always preferred to perform as an active show," Wittmann said during an e-mail interview.

"The music is all memorized and features skits, dancing, solo and small group numbers.  We also encourage audience involvement, especially at the holiday show.  Children are encouraged to come up on stage and join the characters in singing traditional holiday songs."

The chorus will perform "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" during the second of the concert's three sections, he said.

"I hope that people who come will have an opportunity to pause, take a deep breath, and spend an hour or two to recall what the holiday is really about, and leave with a smile, humming a tune or two," Wittmann said.
