Westborough Names Veterans Day Grand Marshal

It's U.S. Coast Guard veteran Douglas M. Sulham.

Westborough's 2013 Veterans Day grand marshal is U.S. Coast Guard veteran Douglas M. Sulham, the town's veterans services office said Monday in a press release.

Veterans Day is Monday, Nov. 11.

Sulham, 29,  served a nine-month tour in Kuwait and Iraq, "most of which I spent training Iraqi Marine and Special Forces," starting in 2008, according to a statement included in the press release.

"To this day, I still recall one of the best days of my life as the day I returned home, where my mother, father and now-wife Kate were waiting for me," Sulham said in the statement.

"Kate made the transition from overseas to being home an easy one, and it was an easy decision to propose three months after returning home."

Sulham's honors include: National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Navy/Marines Service Medal, Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Mobilization Device for AFRM, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal AFR.
