STORM CENTER: Unoffical Snowfall Report: 5.5 For Westborough

Updated Friday at 9:19 a.m.: Unofficial snowfall reports to the National Weather Service: 12.5 for Shrewsbury. 5.5 for Westborough.

Updated Thursday at 5:34 p.m.: The National Weather Service has extended its blizzard warning to most of coastal New England, including the north and south shores of Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. The warning is in effect until 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3.

Updated Thursday at 4:10 p.m.: The latest event cancellation: Cognoscenti Yoga has cancelled its 7:30 p.m. Thursday class, according to its Facebook page.

Updated Thursday at 2:44 p.m.: All trial courthouses statewide, including Westborough District Court, will close at 3 p.m. Thursday, and open Friday at noon, state court officials say.

All Westborough High School and Gibbons Middle School sporting events have been postponed, according to the Midland-Wachusett League website.

The new dates are:

Varsity swimming and diving: To be announced.

Gibbons boys and girls basketball vs. Hudson: Jan. 17.

WHS JV and varsity boys basketball vs. Quabbin: Jan. 15.

WHS JV and varsity girls basketball at Quabbin: Feb. 14.

Updated Thursday at 2:29 p.m.: Robinson Music will close its retail store at 5 p.m. Thursday, and its lesson center at 7 p.m., according to its Facebook page.

The Grille at Westborough Country Club is closed Thursday, according to its Facebook page.

 

Updated Thursday at 10:36 a.m.: Westborough has posted a winter parking ban from 7 p.m. Thursday to noon Friday

Per Facebook, the Boroughs JCC preschool is closed Thursday and Friday.

Per Facebook, Sky Zone Westborough has cancelled these events due to the storm: Thursday evening SkyRobics, Friday morning SkyRobics and Friday morning Toddler Time.

The Westborough Design Review Board meeting scheduled for Friday has been cancelled, and rescheduled for 8:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, in the Forbes Municipal Building.

Villari's Martial Arts of Westborough is closed Thursday, according to its Facebook page.

Cre8 a Do It Yourself Studio is closed Thursday, according to its Facebook page.

The first storm of 2014 is underway as the initial flakes began falling after midnight on Thursday. During the day on Thursday there will be some accumulation, though much of the snow will come Thursday night into Friday before the storm ends by Friday afternoon.
