Hawaiian shirts, and leis, were in style at the First United Methodist Church of Westborough on Sunday.

Partly in honor of Charlie MacKenzie.

The West Main Street church's Sonrise Sunday services, which were followed by a luau-type lunch, were "to celebrate God's Sonshine," said Christine MacKenzie, Charlie's wife.

And for the third straight year, Christine MacKenzie brought Hawaiian shirts for those without their own.

The MacKenzies had been married for 50 years when Charlie died on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011 at age 68. His birthday is Jan. 18, Christine MacKenzie said.

"Our song is the Hawaiian Wedding Song," she said.

"He was a very laid back, happy, always smiling."
