New Carpet to Put Library Main Floor Book Borrowing on Hold

The one-week project starts Sept. 9.

Books won't be borrowed on the Westborough Public Library's main floor for one upcoming week.

New carpeting installation will close the entire main floor for a week starting Sept. 9, Library Director Maureen Ambrosino said Thursday.

Voters at town meeting last year allocated around $50,000 for the project, she said.

"In order to get ready for that, we're taking books off the top and bottom shelves to allow the carpet installers to lift the shelves, Ambrosino said.

"They'll lift them up maybe a few inches, enough to take the old carpet out, put in new carpet, and then set it back down."

The children's room will remain open, she said.

And all inter-library loan requests will be available for pick up, she said.
