Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build

Worcester, MA, - Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester invites women from across the community to join in Women Build, a week of power tools, hard hats and women helping women.

During National Women Build Week, the first week of May, thousands of women from across the country will volunteer on Habitat build sites to raise awareness and funds for the housing crisis that millions of women and children face around the world and locally. Women Build brings women together to build Habitat homes, learn construction and impact in their community.

Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester will host this nation-wide event at two Worcester build sites. On May 3rd, 9th and 10th at 2 Stowell Avenue volunteers will landscape, install floors, paint and build a deck and on May 8th volunteers will be at 133 Plantation Street to complete some final touches.

Each Women Build day has a morning and afternoon shift with lunch included for both groups. Habitat asks for a minimum donation of $100 to participate which will cover construction materials for the day and help Habitat continue to build homes and provide transformative opportunities for families in our community. There is no experience necessary to participate!

Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian organization that provides simple, decent, affordable homeownership opportunities for families in need that earn between 25-60% of the area’s median income. Habitat families are selected based on need for shelter, ability to pay (a zero percent mortgage), and willingness to partner with Habitat. Each family puts in 400-500 hours of ‘sweat equity’ into their homes and is required to take homeownership and financial planning courses.

The MetroWest/Greater Worcester affiliate covers 42 cities and towns and has transformed the lives of 36 families through homeownership. Visit www.habitatmwgw.org for more information.
