can we make a positive difference in the community?

Invitation to come to the inaugural meeting of the COMMUNITY SPIRIT club at Sohum and discuss ways in which we can make a positive difference in our community. Open to all residents of metrowest area.

In these modern times we are all too busy worrying about our own survival to notice the condition of the less fortunate among us. It is a winner take all society, and competition is prized over cooperation. Does it have to be like this or is there a better way for us to organize a society? Do we have to work for money, or should money work for us? Do we have to set a price for everything, or should certain basic requirements be freely available to all? Can we use our energies to create value for others in society? Can we provide a safety net, other than what the government promises, for the less fortunate among us? These are some questions that ought to be addressed if we want to make significant changes, and it requires an effort on our part to come together and discuss such topics and take meaningful actions to address these questions. We are starting a "club" at Sohum Yoga and Meditation Studio to provide a forum for members of the local community (metrowest area) to come together a few times each month and debate such issues, and hopefully act upon fresh ideas that may come up in these meetings. The club is free and open to all. Although it doesn't have to be local, we thought that it would be best to limit to neighboring communities so we can all interact face to face during these meetings. The first meeting of this club is planned for Sunday, February 9 from 5:30-7:00 pm at the studio (30 Lyman Street, in the Westborough Shopping Center. See sohum.org for driving directions). There is no fixed agenda for this meeting other than to get to know one another and come up with ideas on how to make this effort successful, if we all believe in it. I hope that you will join us at this meeting and start making a difference in the community. Please feel free to invite others and bring friends with you to the meeting.
