Varsity Football Plays Season Opener

Here are five pieces of information to help fuel your day in Westborough.

It's Thursday, and that means we've put together this list of things going on in Westborough to help make your day a little brighter, easier and more fun. For a full list of things to do this week, look at the Patch calendar of events.

1. Tour Gibbons Middle School.

Principal Jack Foley hosts a principal's coffee from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, and then the school's open house is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

2. Root for the Rangers.

Here is Thursday's Westborough High School sports schedule:

  • JV boys soccer: vs. Shrewsbury, at Gibbons Middle School, 3:30 p.m.
  • Varsity girls soccer: at Shrewsbury, 3:30 p.m.
  • JV girls soccer: at Shrewsbury, 3:30 p.m.
  • Varsity boys soccer: vs. Shrewsbury, 3:30 p.m.
  • Freshman boys soccer: vs. North Middlesex, at Gibbons Middle School, 4 p.m.
  • Freshman girls soccer: vs. North Middlesex, at Mill Pond School, 4 p.m.
  • JV volleyball: at North Middlesex, 4 p.m.
  • Freshman volleyball: at North Middlesex, 4 p.m.
  • Varsity volleyball: at North Middlesex, 5:15 p.m.
  • Varsity football: at Nashoba, 7 p.m.

3. Learn about the Armstrong Elementary School.

The Armstrong Parent Group meets at 7 p.m. Thursday.

4. Westborough hit 93 degrees on Wednesday.

That's according to AccuWeather, which notes that that's a Sept. 11 record for Westborough. The previous high was 91 degrees, in 1983.

5. Beware of this scam.

Westborough Police, on their Facebook page, are alerting the community to a scam that Leicester Police say targets National Grid customers.
