About 200 Rangers Student-Athletes Set to Volunteer

Here are five pieces of information to help fuel your day in Westborough.

It's Thursday, and that means we've put together this list of things going on in Westborough to help make your week a little brighter, easier and more fun. For a full list of things to do this week, look at the Patch calendar of events.

1. Spotted an owl?

The Westborough Community Land Trust reports that "There's been a flurry of activity on our sightings page lately—giant swallowtails, snapping turtles, ospreys, and tiger beetles... Check out the latest postings and send in your own!"

2. Westborough Police have a new reserve intermittent police officer.

Selectmen appointed James Mastrogiovanni to the position Tuesday night.

3. Hi-Hill Farm and Wishing Wells Perennials had tree work done Tuesday.

"Three trees done with four more to go. Now my shady patio will get a lot more sun, but my grandsons, and everyone else sitting there will be a lot safer," according to Hi-Hill's Facebook page.

"The boys will be a lot safer in their sand box too. SkyHook is doing the work. They are a good, dependable company, locally operated."

4. Westborough High School students will volunteer in town on Tuesday.

About 200 student-athletes will participate in the Rangers Community Service Day from 1 to 4 p.m., Athletic Director Johanna DiCarlo said. The effort was inspired by an idea from seniors Mia Natale and Addie Egan, she said.

5. Heard the proposed Westborough State Hospital deal?

Westborough Patch has the details.
