300th Anniversary Committee Needs Nine Members

Here are five pieces of information to help fuel your day in Westborough.

It's Wednesday, and that means we've put together this list of things going on in Westborough to help make your week a little brighter, easier and more fun. For a full list of things to do this week, look at the Patch calendar of events.

1. Volunteer for a town board.

These town committees have vacancies, selectmen say:

  • 300th Anniversary Committee: nine members
  • Advisory Finance Committee: one member
  • Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee: one member
  • Council on Aging: two members
  • Historical Commission: one member, two non-voting associates
  • Open Space Preservation Committee: two members
  • School Committee: one member
  • Youth Commission: one member

2. Congratulate Calvin Lawrence.

He retired from the Westborough Fire Department on Monday. He joined the department in 1965.

3. Get fresh produce from Old Nourse Farm.

The farm posted this on its Facebook page on Tuesday: "Hello CSA'ers! This week we have peaches, blackberries, lettuce, summer, cousa, and patty pan squash, beets, kale, collards, eggplant, green peppers, cantaloupe, spinach, and sweet corn!

4. Visit Julio's Liquors.

Julio's Liquors is having a sale: 25 percent off on six or more, from Aug. 13 to Aug. 19.

5. Congratulate Chip Dapolite.

Westborough's school resource officer recently was honored.
