If the college kids that volunteer here were to vote, it would be The Lazy Dog but thats because they can't have a good time without getting drunk. As for my family, I would to vote for Dante's at Firefly's in Marlborough for good food and live music.   more ›

McGovern Fights for Commuter Benefits

Encouraging public transportation has many benefits, the congressman says.

US Rep. James McGovern, D-MA, visited the Grafton MBTA station on May 15 to make the case for extending tax benefits for commuters. “It shouldn’t cost more to travel to work than your paycheck,’’ he said, his comments at times drowned out by the rumble of the commuter trains. Currently, commuters who drive to work and park are eligible for up to $240 in pre-tax benefits per month from their employer. By contrast, in January 2012 commuters taking mass transit such as commuter rail, subways, buses or vanpools saw their benefit drop from $230 to $125 a month. Failing to extend equivalent tax benefits to commuters only encourages people to use their own vehicles, which creates gridlock on the roads, adds to pollution and requires more fuel …

Regional Readers' Choice for a Staycation: PiNZ in Milford

So you have a few days off, and aren't planning to travel? The best place for adults and kids is PiNZ in Milford, according to regional Patch readers.

It's always great to be able to escape for a weekend to an exotic location, a favorite getaway. But sometimes we just need to stick closer to home. Where to go on the next Staycation, when staying home, literally, is not that much fun? Readers in the MetroWest Patches chose PiNZ in Milford. PiNZ has a large video arcade with 30 games, 20 bowling lanes and a full-service restaurant and bar. Something for everyone, it seems. The 40,000-square-foot facility, at 110 S. Main St., is owned by David Breen. "We're grateful for the votes," he said Friday. "We try hard to offer a positive experience for our guests when they're there." PiNZ began life as a roller skating rink, the Skate Palace, back in the 1970s, and was transformed by 2006 to the …

When UPS returned to Speedway Plaza, it took up a new spot in the shopping center.

When I lived in CA and CO, the Scrap Booking Stores were plentiful. They had classes and Birthday Parties and the store was always busy! We need something like that here. Just a thought. Ron, I like the idea of a PF Chang or Cheescake Factory for the BJ's spot!   more ›
