Michael, why is this type of article relevant to people in Westborough and why highlight only houses valued over a certain number? Don't you think the 5 owners would prefer not to have their homes listed? What if the sale is due to a very painful issue and seeing their home in print only reminds them of the event? If privacy isn't your concern, why not post the tax returns of the 5 highest earners in town or any other information that can be found on the internet with some clicks of the mouse?

Hi Carl,
Thanks for your note. The real estate agent for some of these homes actually e-mailed me recently and said this: "Nice to see whats available in Westborough! It's great to see all three of my listings mentioned!"
Best,
MG

Hello,
When selling a house, in this range or any range, for that matter. There is no such thing as bad advertising. Whether the reason for selling is happy or sad, everyone's ultimate goal is to get the house SOLD! Patch has many readers, a great reputation and the sellers welcome all the extra advertisement their listings get.
Thanks
R Smith

I realize that, as a residential real estate broker yourself, this would be your position as well. Are you the broker for any of these houses or are you just promoting the industry in general hoping the free advertisement may help your business too?

Hello Carl,
Three of the five listings are mine and the sellers do welcome the extra exposure.
Thanks

Why should these sellers receive extra exposure vs. the other homes in town for sale? I don't expect you to answer, because we all know your commission is based on the value of the house, so your motive is obvious (greed). I'm still waiting for the courtesy of a response from Michael to my original questions above. Unless he receives a piece of the action from you for advertising your listings on the website (for free).

I find it interesting because the more expensive hourses are a barometer of the local market. All these listings are publicly available on realtor.com and if you are truyly interested you can go to the town website and get more info on the property including owner names, valuation and purchase price. As a seller, I would expect my agent to promote my property as creatively as possible. This is no more 'greed' than anyone collecting a paycheck at their job.

Hi Carl,
Thank you for your comments. I had thought that Rob's comments addressed your concerns. You asked, "Don't you think the 5 owners would prefer not to have their homes listed? What if the sale is due to a very painful issue and seeing their home in print only reminds them of the event?" Rob happens to represent three of the homeowners, and he has said that they do not have those concerns.
If you'd like to discuss this further, please e-mail me at Michael.Gelbwasser@patch.com.
Best,
MG
