WHS Principal Search Starts In-House
Faculty eyes 'continuity in administration,' O'Connor says.
Westborough school officials' search for a new Westborough High School principal has begun within the school district.
School Superintendent Marianne O'Connor told the school committee Wednesday night she posted the job in-house based on the faculty's input.
About 50 faculty members attended a meeting she called to learn “what they were looking for in their next leader: personal and leadership qualities," she said. Faculty members' written input was welcomed as well, she said.
With Westborough High's New England Association of Schools and Colleges review happening next year, “it was very clear from the faculty that they’re really looking for continuity in administration," O'Connor said.
Principal John Smith said last month he is resigning, ending six years here. At that time, O’Connor said Smith will pursue “other interests in the field of education.”
