WHS Prepared to Help Students Mourn Lizzi

Counselors will be available, school superintendent says.

Westborough High School will be prepared today to help students mourn former classmate Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott, School Superintendent Marianne O'Connor said Sunday night.

"The high school crisis team will meet at 6:30 a.m. to discuss how best to identify students who may be affected by the situation," O'Connor said.

"At 7 a.m., there will be a general faculty meeting. A moment of silence will take place. There will be opportunities throughout the day for students to write messages to the family and leave their thoughts on large sheets of paper in various locations in the school.

"School adjustment counselors, psychologist and guidance counselors will be available for students. Assistance and support will be ongoing as needed."

Marriott, 19, graduated from Westborough High School in 2011.

Marriott, who attended the University of New Hampshire, was last heard from on Tuesday evening, when she texted a friend. By Thursday, she was reported missing, and police departments focused an extensive search on Pierce Island in Portsmouth, N.H.

On Saturday, Seth Mazzaglia, 29, of Dover, N.H. was charged with second degree murder in her death. Mazzaglia is scheduled to be arraigned this morning in Dover District Court.
