Sunday, the Westborough High School varsity girls basketball team will help promote women's cancer research and awareness.
The first day of the 11th Annual Westborough High School Invitational Tournament will benefit Play 4Kay.
Play 4Kay is an initiative of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, which runs in partnership with the Women's College Basketball Association and the V Foundation, according to the program's website.
The fund is "committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women’s cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause," the website notes.
The fund honors former North Carolina State University head women’s basketball coach Kay Yow, who died of breast cancer on Jan. 24, 2009, according to the website.
Nationally, Play 4Kay games run Feb. 8 to Feb. 18, the website notes.
