Westborough Artist Featured at Danforth Museum of Art

Janine Schmitt presents "Portrait of the Mind" through June 27.

Westborough artist Janine Schmitt is currently presenting her new works in a solo show at the Danforth Museum of Art, 123 Union Ave. in Framingham. Portrait of the Mind runs through June 27. An opening reception will take place on Wednesday, May 18, from 6 to 8 p.m.

According to a release from Schmitt, Portrait of the Mind is a collection of thirteen pieces, “all with very rigid grid constructions, layered with strong brush strokes, various textures, dancing shapes, imaginary writings, images of the mind’s need for order and the soul’s quest to push the boundaries.”

Schmitt moved from New York to Westborough two years ago. Her work has appeared in exhibits around the world, including New York City, Miami, Vienna and Rio de Janeiro.
