Uhlman's Offers a Taste of Disney

Uhlman's Ice Cream's newest menu additions show that it's a small world after all.

Dole Whip is "what they serve at Disney. So, there's a lot of brand recognition with it," says Kelley Donley, whose family owns Uhlman's, at 228 East Main St.

"I posted this on Facebook. We had one lady comment that when she lived in Hawaii, that was her favorite thing was to stop at the Dole plant and get Dole Whip. She's actually been here. She was like, 'Yay! You have Dole Whip!'"

Uhlman's is carrying Dole Whip's orange and pineapple sorbets, Donley says.

"The selling point on it is it's lactose-free. It's vegan. It's gluten-free. It's fat-free. It's free of just about everything, and people with allergies love it."

Donley says Uhlman's is ""trying to go healthier. But after 45 years of doing just ice cream, it's a little hard."

Uhlman's also offers low-fat chocolate and vanilla soft-serve, Donley says. Both are lactose-free.

Uhlman's most popular ice cream flavors are "Cookie Dough, (which) by far is the number one seller"; "Moose Tracks, with little peanut butter cups in it"; and Oreo, Donley says.
