Tropical Storm Irene Has Arrived

Although downgraded, Irene still poses a major threat to New England.

Hurricane Irene has been downgraded to a Tropical Storm but she is still expected to cause widespread power outages and damages.

Should the need arise, the high school is currently set up as an emergency shelter.

According to Police Chief Alan Gordon, the police department has extra personnel on the desk and extra patrols on the road. They also have the Emergency Operations Center in operation for as long as it is needed. In addition to the extra patrols, they will have the entire command staff at the EOC. The Fire Department has also increased the amount of personnel who will be on duty. The Police Department asks that all motorists remain off the roads throughout the duration of the storm.

The town of Westborough will broadcast on the radio at AM 1610.
