An SUV was clocked going 77 mph near Westborough's Speedway Plaza on Route 9 -- a 45 mph zone -- early this morning, Police Chief Alan Gordon said today.

The driver allegedly was drunk, police said.

Oscar Hernandez, 28, of 34 Pond St., Ashland failed field sobriety tests and was arrested by Officer Caleb Polseno and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, operating after revocation, speeding and a warrant from Framingham District Court for motor vehicle offenses, Gordon said in a press release.

Police also charged Hernandez with possession of ammunition without a license to carry. At the police station, Hernandez had a plastic bag containing six rounds of 22-caliber ammunition, Gordon said. Gordon said he was unsure why Hernandez had it.

At 1:50 a.m., Polseno clocked a Ford Escape driven by Hernandez at 77 mph on Route 9 near the Speedway Plaza -- 32 mph over the speed limit, Gordon said.

Polseno stopped the vehicle at Route 9 near Bellows Road.

Police also arrested Jose V. Encarnacion, 29, of 4A Lincoln St., Milford, a passenger in the left rear seat.

During the traffic stop, Encarnacion yelled at Officer Brian Massey, who assisted Polseno at the scene, and threatened to kick Massey's butt, Gordon said.

Encarnacion tried several times to get out of the SUV. Police arrested him after a struggle, Gordon said.

Police charged Encarnacion with disorderly person and resisting arrest. He was held on $500 cash bail and faces arraignment in Westborough District Court this morning.

Hernandez was held without bail on the Framingham District Court warrant, and also faces arraignment today in the Westborough court.
