Snow, Sleet and Freezing Rain for Tonight

The National Weather Service is predicting slippery conditions will impact the evening commute.

The temperatures are finally climbing out of the basement, but not far enough to prevent a little snow this afternoon, turning into freezing rain just in time for the evening commute.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for 1 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Beginning at 1 p.m., snow, about 1 to 2 inches, is expected to start, changing throughout the day to sleet, then freezing rain - expected to begin between 4 and 7 p.m. throughout Central Massachusetts.

The National Weather Service warns that the snow and ice "will cause slippery driving and walking conditions on untreated roads and sidewalks," and that the evening rush hour is expected to be messy.

Temperatures are predicted to hover around the 20s.
