If you're going to respond to a story that involved Mr. DeLong, who puts his life on the line every day to keep people like you safe, shane on you. You don't deserve his protection.

^agree with k fay..... unfortunate circumstances..... Westboro taxpayer should step up and do the job or keep his mouth shut unless he wants to man up and use his name behind his opinion instead of the anonymity of hiding behind a keyboard

the police need to slow down a bit . they are now help at a crime or accident scene if they are in a wreck also . there is no reason for the police or fire department to be driving as fast as they do it is dangerous . i understand they have special training for hi speed situations but there is a point where hi speed becomes ridiculous . it is just a matter of time till some one is killed and then what ? tax payer will rely pay then i do respect the fact that the police put there life on the line every day for are safety they do a great job . but they are also putting everyone life in danger if they cant drive with caution

The annoyed taxpayer should know that this article failed to mention two things. The roads at that time were probably icy/snowy since there was a snow storm at the time... Also, if you keep up on your local news, that in the Aug. 10 crash he was the victim of a taxpayer who blew a red light on Route 9.

If someone close to me is in an accident, I don't want the police taking their time getting there. They have bright blue flashing lights and sirens on their cars for a reason. They don't know what they're going to see when they get there; it could be a fender bender, it could be a life-threatening situation. jj car, if someone in your family is in an accident, do you want the police to "slow down a bit" on their way? I know I don’t.

I don't know Officer Delong; he could be a great driver, he could drive like Detective Lt. Frank Drebbin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYUWy50oYvU). Delong was hit by a guy who ran a red light and had an accident in lousy weather when he was on his way to help someone. How someone’s first reaction to this is concern for the taxpayers’ money is beyond my understanding.

And, as ironic as this is, I agree with the person who only goes by “corey” that Westboro taxpayer should “man up” and use his real name when posting such comments.

@Westboro Taxpayer. Sounds like your gripe should be with the highway department since Officer Delong had to negotiate dangerous snow covered roadways to protect taxpayers like yourself. I'm sure if WPD trained their officers for every possible weather variable, you'd just be complaining about the extra tax money that you have to shell out for that too. These officers are doing their job while we are safe in our beds at night. If you'd like to blog about your day at work I'm sure the rest of us taxpayers can pick your efforts apart.

Wow all these people sticking up for the cop! i dont know the details of this crash so i cannot judge. I do know that I have witnessed 3 close call accidents because the police do 60 mph down east main street with no sirens sounding. i dont know what type of call they are responding to, but if you do need to go 0-60 in 10 seconds on main street put some sirens on, beep the funny horn, do something because its plain dangerous. its a bad policy, and i have wanted to complain because one time they almost hit me, but i dont want to deal with any repercussions from the cops. which brings me to my last point: they have every right not to leave their name, and it has nothing to do with the argument so get another point!

I know Officer Delong. He lives on the Northboro street where he grew up in the house his father and his ex once owned. Delong regularly speeds up and down the road he lives on. Last time I was at my old home, a car came zooming past the house, and I instinctively yelled, "Slow down!" It was Tyson Delong, in a Westboro police car, speeding down a small road in Northboro, at over 50 mph. He has a real problem with anger and he's aggressive and mean. I've known him all his life and I'm not surprised that he 1) gets into big accidents and 2) speeds down the street he grew up on, as if he's the big sheriff in town. He regularly tailgates Northboro residents to harass them. Don't tell me he puts his life on the line in l'il ole Westboro. He loves it just a little too much. He's a danger to himself, to others, and especially to the people on his hometown street. Send him for help before he kills someone.
