Shrewsbury Man Shot by Friend During NYE 'Game'

A Webster man who works as a security guard at a Westborough firm was arraigned on Wednesday for shooting his friend.

A 24-year-old Shrewsbury man was in serious condition and is now recovering at UMass after his friend shot him during a "game" on New Year's Eve, the Worcester Telegram and Gazette reports.

Daniel G. Grenon of Webster was arraigned Wednesday on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, six counts of improperly storing a firearm and improper storage of ammunition.

The shooting occurred after a "game" between Grenon and his best friend about whether a knife or gun could be drawn quicker, the Telegram reports.

Police responded to Grenon's apartment four minutes before midnight on New Year's Eve.

Grenon works for Securitas Security in Westborough as a security guard.
