Sen. Scott Brown Draws Crowd at Tatnuck

Masachusetts senator signs copies of his memoir "Against All Odds."

Summerlike weather and a long holiday weekend did not prevent his fans from flocking to a book signing by US Sen. Scott Brown, R-MA, on Saturday afternoon at .

A steady stream of people, clutching copies of Brown’s best-selling memoir Against All Odds, stood in a lengthy line to shake hands, say hello and - if they asked - have their photo taken with the senator.

As she waited for the book signing to begin, Susan Terkanian of Spencer described herself as a supporter of the senator. “He is one of the two or three politicians that I trust,” she said, while Elaine Alden of Marlborough, sitting nearby, nodded in agreement. “At least he stayed close to his promises,” Terkanian continued.

As he autographed stacks of his book, Brown invited Westborough Patch to chat and said he was pleased that his memoir has been so well received (Against All Odds spent a number of weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list earlier this year.) “It’s been a lot of fun meeting so many people…I’ve  enjoyed reflecting back upon my life experiences.” He added that he was also gratified that so many readers seemed to relate to many aspects of his personal story.

Brown, who returned to Westborough on Monday for the Memorial Day parade, told Westborough Patch that he had worked on the book daily for a period of months. Asked if another book was in his future, he smiled and  responded, “Too much work right now. Maybe at some point I’ll be ready for another one.”

Brown’s appearance was one of the more high-profile author signings at Tatnuck, according to the store’s general manager, Charles Napolean. Napolean pointed out that while Tatnuck “draws 2 or 3 author signings a week,” the last notable political author to visit Tatnuck was another former US Senator from Massachusetts, Edward Brooke, who published a memoir, Bridging the Divide, in 2006.
