Police Receive Complaint About Telemarketer

Anyone receiving these calls should call the police or fire departments.

A private telemarketer for an "organization supposedly representing volunteer firefighters" has prompted a complaint to the Westborough Police Department.

The telemarketer "does not share their proceeds with any firefighters. They are connected to VolunteerFiremanonline.com," Police Chief Alan Gordon said today in a press release.

Residents receiving calls from this telemarketer should call the Westborough police or fire departments, Gordon said.

These people are just terrible. They take advantage of legit foundations to take money for unsuspecting people and keep it for themselves. I have read several complaints posted at http://www.callercenter.com about such calls and I have observed that more and more people have become skeptical about giving donations even to legit foundations. It's just terrible.
