Library Patron Assaulted and Robbed
Westborough woman arrested in this morning's incident.
A Westborough Public Library patron's hair was pulled from behind, her iPhone stolen and then ordered to hand over her wallet and wedding ring this morning, Police Chief Alan Gordon said today.
The victim gave the alleged assailant what she had -- her wedding ring -- before her attacker fled, Gordon said in a press release.
The suspect was arrested soon after behind the Central One Federal Credit Union on Cottage Street by Officer Charles Dapolite, who arrested her, Gordon said. Dapolite saw that the suspect matched the assailant's description.
Police charged Raven Williams, 20, of 61 South St., Westborough with the unarmed robbery and assault and battery on the victim, a 40-year-old North Grafton woman who identified her, Gordon said.
The incident was reported around 11:13 a.m., Gordon said.
The victim had been seated at a table at the library when she saw her attacker "walk by her several times," Gordon said.
The victim's iPhone and wedding ring were returned to her, he said.
Williams faces arraignment Thursday in Westborough District Court.

Terrible that this happened here in town. But terrific for our police and especially School Resource Officer and Westborough High graduate Charles "Chip" Dapolite. Thanks, Chip!
