IMAGE GALLERY: Scouts Present Magical Banquet

The annual Cub Scout Pack 100 Blue and Gold Banquet took place on Saturday, Feb. 11.

It’s Magic! was the theme of the Westborough Cub Scout Pack 100 Blue and Gold Banquet on Saturday, Feb. 11. The annual event is celebrated by Cub Scout packs nationwide during the February, the anniversary month of the Boy Scouts of America.

“We have about 170 people here tonight,” said organizer Connie Hastings. “It’s a full house.”

The event started with a buffet dinner in the cafeteria, followed by an entertaining magical performance by magician Bonaparté  in the school auditorium.

Children of all ages started the evening at the balloon table to create balloon hats, belts, animals and other creations. Tables were decorated in the blue and gold theme with centerpieces and placemats created by the Cub Scouts.

After a catered dinner from Monti’s in Northborough, the crowd moved to the auditorium for a show by Bonaparté, who was as much entertainer as he was magician. For about an hour, he captivated kids and parents with his storytelling, humor and magic. A number of Westborough family members were brought onto the stage to help with the act.

“This was a fun show,” he told Westborough Patch following his crowd pleasing performance. “I enjoy working with groups like the Cub Scouts.”

As part of a pack service project, the Cub Scouts were asked to bring a birthday party item to donate to homeless children. Donations filed a table and included items like wrapping paper, party paper goods and toys for children.
