had a situation in the store Friday night. Jersey Shore cast member Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, that is. The MTV reality star made an appearance at the local store to promote Devotion Vodka. The always-stylish Sorrentino was fashionably late, making his entrance an hour after the set start time. However, his tardiness did not break the excitement of the crowd.

The line of people waiting for his signature wrapped around the perimeter of the store and along the outside of the building as it continued to rain. Fans ranged from a 2-year-old all the way up to a grey-haired blow out (a popular Jersey shore hairstyle).

The cultural phenomenon that is Jersey Shore caught the attention of many viewers both young and old. On Friday night, 500 bottles of Devotion Vodka were available for sale. Each bottle purchased gave the buyer access to meet Sorrentino, get his autograph and snap a picture.

What is it about Sorrentino that draws such a following? Many female followers proclaimed his “abs” are his best feature and generate a chorus of screaming girls. He’s also known for talking about himself in the third person and being a vital part of the antics of the Jersey Shore cast. Sorrentino, who lives by the daily schedule of gym, tan, laundry did not disappoint his crowd. Gina Church of Worcester said he was “exactly as she expected.”

Mike Ledoux, Worcester, swung by Julio’s Liquors to take part in the celebrity sighting. “It’s always cool meeting celebrities, he seems like a cool dude,” he said. Many people who attended the event simply came to spot the star. It’s not too often that Westborough hosts a celebrity, and the excitement was enough to draw in a curious crowd.

This is not the first celebrity endorsement to come through Westborough. Julio's Liquors recently hosted from Real Housewives of New York, and is hosting Geoff Tate, lead vocalist of Queensryche, October 25.
