Westborough Fire Department Captain Joe Lawrence said today that the department is not fundraising.

"The Westborough Fire Dept has received reports from town residents that they have been receiving calls from someone claiming to be raising money for the fire department,” Lawrence said in an email to Westborough Patch.

He said there is currently no fundraising taking place by the Westborough Fire Department, the Firefighters Association or the Professional Firefighter Union. Lawrence said the public would be notified prior to any fundraising program.

Anyone receiving the fraudulent calls should hang up and report the incident to the Westborough Police Department at 508-366-3060.
