Halloween is guaranteed to be a dark night this year.

"The Dark Knight" characters are among the most popular costumes for adults flying out of Spirit Halloween this year, says Vincent Patanio, manager of the Spirit Halloween store in the Westborough Shopping Center.

So, the bats trick-or-treating in Westborough may actually be bat-men.

Power Rangers are popular too.

"They sell out," Patanio says.

And, ghosts, goblins and witches must share the Halloween sky with Thor and his fellow members of Marvel's "The Avengers," he says.

Many kids want to be a character from "Adventure Time" or "The Hunger Games," Patanio says.
