Busy Season Begins for Local Florists
Centerpieces, hostess gifts, tree decorating, interior and exterior home designs are just a few of the things you can find in our local florist shops.
The holiday season is here and for Westborough florists, ‘tis the season of home decorating, centerpieces and wreaths.
“This is absolutely our busy season,” said Melissa Horne, owner of The Plant Bazaar on East Main Street. “We do a lot of custom work – a lot of interior and exterior decorating and parties.”
“The first two weeks [of December], we are very busy decorating houses,” said Faris Casten, owner of Faris Farm Flowers on South Street. She said a lot of time is spent making custom wreaths and gifts for the holidays.
Other floral finds in Westborough include huge poinsettias and plant-filled ornaments at The Plant Bazaar, specialty flowers at Faris Farm Flowers and Mr. Mugford’s handmade wreaths at Mugford’s Flower Shoppe.
Chris Bakuis, owner of Mugford’s Flower Shoppe on Warburton Lane, said she bought the florist shop from Mugford about twenty years ago, and he still enjoys making wreaths. “He is about 87 years old now, and he loves to make the wreaths. They are very popular.”
The three Westborough florists will be open on Small Business Saturday on Nov. 26. Each florist said there are a variety of hostess gifts, handmade presents and decorating ideas for the holidays.
Westborough Patch encourages shoppers to think local on Small Business Saturday and support our local florists.
