Book Drive Collects More Than 500 Items
The Worcester Writers Collaborative sponsored the event.
"The Cat in the Hat Comes Back" and "Arthur's First Sleepover" will entertain new children, thanks to a local writers group.
The Worcester Writers Collaborative collected more than 500 books and other materials during its first Warm Hearts Children’s Book Drive, which included an event at the Westborough Public Library on Sunday, group co-founder Cheryl Cory said.
The proceeds, which exceeded the club's goal of 500 items, will go to Cradles to Crayons in Massachusetts, as well as Our Little Brothers and Sisters Orphanage in Haiti.
"Most of the items came from the St. Luke's parishioners during the last week or so," Cory said today.
"We did have a few people drop off full boxes of books at the library yesterday, though, so that was quite helpful."
