Westborough police and fire crews worked at the scene of an accident on East Main Street this afternoon.
UPDATE: July 28, 3:45 p.m. - At 12:37 p.m., Westborough emergency crews were called to the scene of a three-car accident on East Main Street, between Flanders and Steven Roads. Four people were taken to the hospital, including one child.
“The mechanism of the accident indicates there could be [serious injuries],” Capt. Cal Lawrence told Westborough Patch.
Three people were transported by Westborough ambulance personnel. One person was taken to the hospital by Southborough ambulance.
Three vehicles were towed from the scene. Police and fire had cleared the location by 1:25 p.m.
July 28, 1:30 p.m. - Just after 12:30 p.m., Westborough police and fire crews responded to the scene of a what was described as a “two-car head-on collision" on East Main Street between Steven and Flanders roads. A witness at the scene reported that a third vehicle was involved.
“There were children crying at the scene,” the unidentified witness said.
Kelly Griffin reported on the Westborough Patch Facebook page, "I just went by and it's bad. An ambulance from Southboro just went to the scene too."
Scanner reports indicate that three people were transported to the hospital. Southborough sent an ambulance to the scene to assist Westborough.
Westborough firefighters reported clearing the scene by 1:25 p.m.
