Alpacas Attract Kids to Farmers' Market

North Grafton's Angel Hair Alpacas is back at Westborough's market this season.

Noon to 6 p.m. Thursday became feeding time for some of Maureen Agley's alpacas.

Many families stopped by the North Grafton-based Angel Hair Alpacas' tents at the Westborough Farmers' Market to treat her animals to snacks, of sorts.

"Half of our attraction is the animals, and the other half is the alpaca fleece products," Agley said.

Thursday marked Angel Hair's third year at the Westborough market, on the Congregational Church of Westborough's lawn, Agley said.

Angel Hair will alternate between the Westborough and Grafton farmers' markets, which are both on Thursdays, she said.

"It seems the community really supports the farmers' market here, which is great to see. We attend a number of farmers' markets in the area, and some of the townships just don't support the market," Agley said.

"But, it's different in Westborough. I think the residents here really appreciate the ability to come and buy things locally, and to have the kids appreciate what's involved with the food that they eat and the clothes that they wear."
