5 Things You Need to Know Today: May 1

A free concert, a free festival and a toast to vinegar are in today's list of things to know.

1.It is not just May Day today, it is also the start of National Vinegar Month. The Vinegar Institute is hoping you will take time in the month of May to honor how versatile the product is for both cooking and cleaning.

2. , 117 East Main St., is hosting a blood drive today from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Worcester Area American Red Cross will be conducting the free event. For information, call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE.

4. The Westborough Spring Festival continues today. Events presented by the Rotary Club of Westborough will take place at various locations in town. For a list of scheduled events, times and locations, click on this Westborough Patch article.

5. A Celebration of Song: The Great American Songbook and Beyond takes place today from 2 to 3 p.m. at the . The free event features Too Human performing jazzy bluesy originals and jazz standards from the Great American Songbook. The show is supported in part by the grant from the Westborough Cultural Council.

5. The Westborough Girl Scouts will hold its 5th Annual Community Food Drive to benefit the Westborough Food Pantry on Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Tufts Machine Lot on East Main Street. The pantry is currently in need of cookies, crackers, bottled and canned juices, salad dressing, paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo and deodorant. Gift cards to local grocery stores are also accepted. For more information, call 508-870-3258.
