5 Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 30
It's Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day! Can today possibly get any better?
Each morning, Westborough Patch presents “5 Things You Need to Know,” a collection of announcements, events, reminders and odd little ditties to help you organize your day.
1. Today is Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day! But, let’s be honest: Isn’t every day Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day? Event organizers encourage everyone to snap and share bubble wrap with friends, coworkers, classmates and loved ones. For more information on this 52-year-old invention, visit www.sealedair.com.
2. The Westborough High School Rangers boys varsity hockey team will host Holliston High School at 7:20 p.m. The game takes place at the North Star Youth Forum, 15 Bridle Lane. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and non-Westborough students and free for Westborough High school students and children under 10.
4. The Westborough Historical Society, 13 Parkman St., presents The Challenges of Ice Harvesting at 7 p.m. This free event will discuss this major enterprise, with its ice men and ice houses, that benefitted households and businesses worldwide.
5. New cars are not required to include a spare tire, warns AAA Southern New England. To meet new government fuel efficiency standards, some vehicle manufacturers are omitting heavy spare tires and equipping new vehicles with an emergency sealant and inflator kits. The group recommends inspecting the car before you buy it to know what to do in the event of a flat.
