5 Things You Need to Know Today: Aug. 13

The Knights of Columbus have moved the date of the annual charity golf tournament.

Each morning, Westborough Patch presents “5 Things You Need to Know,” a collection of announcements, events and reminders to help you organize your day.

1. The scheduled for Monday, Aug. 15 at has been postponed for one week because of a forecast for heavy rain. The new date for the tournament is Monday, Aug. 22. For more information, contact the tournament chairman, Larry Boyd, at 508-330-1588.

2. is hosting an author event from 10 a.m. to noon with Beth Raisner Glass, author of Blue Ribbon Dad. The presentation includes a craft project suitable for children. Blue Ribbon Dad is a rhyming picture book for ages 2 to 8 and includes the story of a little boy who makes a special gift for his dad. The event is free and open to all.

3. Registration is now open for Westborough Little League fall baseball. There will be two divisions, one for players who will be 8 or 9 for the Spring 2012 season and one for players who will be 10 to 12 years old for the Spring 2012 season. 4. Two Westborough Girl Scouts, Katherine Nikopoulos and Cassie DiSaia, are collecting donations to make camp boxes for children to use when they attend Camp To Belong in August. Donations of new or gently used craft supplies are needed. Children’s scissors are welcome. A donation box is in the through Aug. 18. The girls are doing the project as part of a requirement to earn the Girl Scout Silver Award.

5. The organizers of Westborough Youth Football remind parents to turn in any outstanding paperwork. Any player without paperwork by Tuesday, Aug. 16 will be unable to play in the Jamboree on Sunday, Aug. 21. Contact your head coach or team Mom to confirm that your son’s paperwork is complete.
