5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 29
Hunters, be sure to check your turkeys.
Each morning, Westborough Patch presents “5 Things You Need to Know,” a collection of announcements, events, reminders and odd little ditties to help you organize your day. What will you be doing today?
1. Turkey hunters are required to check their turkies at an official check station for the spring turkey hunting season. The Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife on Rabbit Hill Road in Westborough is an official Massachusetts checking station. Others can be found on this website.
2. The 3rd Annual Walk/Run for Pancreatic Cancer takes place this morning at Westborough Tennis and Swim Club, 35 Chauncy St.
4. The UMass Memorial Medical Center is offering free skin cancer screenings on Saturday, May 12 from 8 a.m. to noon. For an appointment, call 508-334-5832 on Tuesday, May 8 or Wednesday, May 9. Parking is free.
5. There is a canoe trip through Cedar Swamp scheduled to take place at 1:30 p.m. The Westborough Community Land Trust program includes an adventurous 1-mile paddle up the winding head of the Sudbury and into Cedar Swamp Pond. This four to five hour trip is free, fairly strenuous and designed for experienced paddlers. Meet by the bridge on Fruit Street, about 1/8 mile southwest of Flanders Road.
