PENTA Communications Inc. is accepting applications for its 2013 Female Leadership Scholarship.

The Deborah A. Penta Female Leadership Scholarship is awarded each year to anexceptional female senior at Westborough High School who exemplifies leadership in academia, extracurricular activities, and community service during her high school years.

This scholarship, which is in its eighth year, has been awarded to young women with future aspirations to be physicians, educators, managers, newscasters, and international delegates.

WHS female seniors are encouraged to apply for the $1,000 scholarship. Applications are being accepted now through April 1.

The criteria to apply for the scholarship includes three letters of recommendation from faculty members or those who can detail the applicant’s qualities at WHS with her participation on teams, committees or place of employment; a current resume indicating academic standing, and all activities and leadership achievements; a listing of any charitable work the applicant has completed during her high school years; and a 200-word essay explaining why the applicant feels she should receive the scholarship.
